Group Coaching
This is the emerging "big thing" for church. A "leadership coaching group" or "network gathering for leaders" brings high level church leaders together for relationship building, support, and collaborative strategy. It is a great way to help leaders come together, encourage one another, and share in ministry.
Who's doing it these days?
- Stadia (connected to Church Coaching Solutions)
- Baptist General Conference church planting group
- Purpose Driven Church planting (Ron Sylvia's group)
- Vision 360 (connected to Disney)
The acronym L.E.A.D. sets the tone and agenda:
- LEARN
- ENCOURAGE
- ACHIEVE
- DREAM
What does it look like?
It goes something like this...
- The meeting begins with a meal and a "get to know you" time
- Then they follow it by an inspirational review of a portion of scripture, application, and prayer time for one another
- When that is done there is specific teaching and practice in art of Coaching
- Then the leaders head off for a nice meal together and a crazy, fun event for the rest of the evening; the event is participatory and out-of-the-box: like Lazer tag, rock climbing, or go-carts
- They then pick it up the next morning with breakfast and a prayer time; by the morning time, the barriers are down and everyone has shared their hearts (in the coaching time), had fun together, and connected at deeper level
- At this point, everyone is ready to review their missional plans (projects) and then dream together about what can be done
- At the end of 24 hours, everyone has bonded and created significant plans together
